Brochure

Outside

Inside

I'd like to get some better pictures for the front page of the brochure, since there not smiling and I think maybe it puts off the wrong message. And of course the quality of the pictures inside isn't great since I just took them from the website. Lemme know what you guys think should be fixed and what you like!

Sam's Design

Sorry I didn't get this up sooner. It may be a bit to much like the Nike site, but we can change that.

Design Brief

Athletics and Beyond

Kenna Witt | Ron Caruthers | Sam Wilson |Gerald Hoenings | Alex Sanchez

Synopsis

To provide the community for Athletics and Beyond the opportunity to enrich their kids’ lives with the sports and arts they can provide them. We want to refine the company’s brand in order to raise awareness and bring the community together towards the promotion of education and arts. Making the website cleaner and easier to navigate will help get more people involved. Creating brochures and postcards to spread the word to people who may not have access to Internet. A television spot will expand their audience even further, explaining the aspects of the program as well as visually drawing them in.

Client

“The purpose of Athletics & Beyond is to give at risk children from economically deprived families access to camps and clinics, which may not have previously been available because of financial and logistical reasons.

We will encourage our young athletes to continue their education in careers beyond athletics. Our career-mentoring program will focus on counseling young adults between the ages of 11 and 18 about career options in athletics. We will have professionals who work in the sports world as journalist, coaches, sports agents, athletic trainers and entrepreneurs mentor high school aged participants. Participants of this clinic will receive the hands on approach to capture their attention. These young men and women will not only have the opportunity to meet and speak with professionals in various fields but have the opportunity to follow and spend a few hours with their mentors on the job.

Bottom line emphasis of this program is on education, career options, teamwork, self-confidence and full realization of each player's potential, in a safe environment.”

Target Audience

The primary audience for this program is children from 7-14 and their parents who would enroll them. A secondary audience we have added is sponsors who have interest in developing the community, we will be targeting this audience by creating a brochure specifically catered to how they can get involved. The website is more orientated towards the parent, showing what the program is about and how they can enroll. The children will be targeted by both the colorful, image-heavy brochures and the commercial, which showcases the kids involved in the program.

Project Aims

The goal in re-branding this program is to develop and broaden their audience, resulting in more sponsorship and increased student participation. Athletics and Beyond is also interested in creating an easy form to fill out from the website to create easy access to registration to further their attendance.

Refined Idea's

So here's my idea's for a few things, sorry the reds aren't showing up as bright as they should because of the way I saved, but you get the idea :)

Logo : Here's the logo you guys chose from mine, just refined it a bit.

Business card : I liked the big letters and I thought it explained the program simply with the black letters 'learn' spelled out amongst the things they offer.

Letterhead : Relating to the first one's style with the bold and straight text.

Postcard : This one is really rough as well, I just substituted pictures in this one because I want good shots of kids doing the things they will do in this program to reach out to the readers first and foremost, much more important than the type.

Pitch it!

Hey guys,

Here are some refined ideas & thoughts for the A&B Pitch.

First here is my refined Logo...

Business Card Front & Back with round corners...

Letterhead design...

Letterhead design with text...
e-mail Banners for the electroinc news letter...

the first one would be for the Beyond side such as 'arts'...

the second one would be for the Athletics side such as 'football'...

Weblayouts and imagry...
the first one is the home page...

In this one Im trying to use the orginal idea of the silhoueettes form the current side, it is a more cleaned up and more designed and refined.

The reason being is because in the following examples I have tryed to utilize images for the background as our orginal idea, but as you all can see below I found the background images to distracting and confusing from the navigation and information that lais on top.

Athletics page...

Beyond page...

Athletics page...
the use of background imagry is to distracting to navigate or to see information, Im not sure if its the imagry itself or just the concept of this particular layout...

Beyond page...
same issue as in the one above^...

Wordpress Site

I have a wordpress site up and running right now. The link is below. It isn't much at the moment but I have already done quite a bit of code editing to remove things we do not need for A&B. Once I get all the code editing done then I can start customizing it.

Print Examples

Here's a couple links with interesting links for idea's for business cards, postcards and possibly a letter head I was thinking?

-
Cards

-Postcards
-Letter heads

Main Focus
-Not Text Heavy/More Visual
-Colorful/Imagery
-Explain what they are about

Business cards I liked..

I thought the bigger text was a great idea for this project, it catches people's attention and it gets the idea about their program out in a unique way.

This one I thought about making a set of cards that are all different, each one has a picture of the kids in the program set like an old sports collectible card.

Another thing I thought of was making the cards out in the shape and color of a sport ball or equipment, though I think that one would be too expensive to duplicate.

For postcards..

I really liked the bright colors and how the image continued onto the back of this postcard.

Very image orientated, expressing the program mainly through the imagery and a short explanation.

Some of the notes I wrote down that I thought I would share in case we forgot.

He wants to focus more on the education aspect of things, about how they are fighting the streets and stereotypes involved. It's about kids getting an education, the sports is like a treat they get for staying in school. Allowing kids who can't afford expensive sport camps a way to still do the sports they love. Also include more about the arts side of the group.

He wanted us to add the form fill in, maybe a field trips section and a counter to the website.

The sports he is involved in
-Football and Basketball are the main ones
-boxing
-wrestling
-martial arts
-volleyball
-baseball
-A little soccer
